Apple recently announced macOS 10.14 Mojave. Slated to be released in Fall 2018, Mojave includes new features Dark Mode, Stacks desktop file organization, and improved screenshot capabilities. Mojave is currently being offered as a beta preview, and as such, subject to instability and potential crashes.
Some significant issues found during the initial round of testing:
SketchUpLayOut/Style Builder
- SketchUp can crash when adding a scene. We have also seen SketchUp crash intermittently when accessing the Materials, Scenes, and Styles browsers.
- SketchUp’s tool palettes (large tool set, solid tools, etc) will sometimes appear blank. Closing and reopening the palette or moving it to a secondary display usually fixes the issue.
- SketchUp does not fully support Mojave’s Dark Mode theme. While we have not observed any major incompatibilities, many dialogs, toolbars/palettes, and windows are not rendered in the Dark Mode colors.
- Neither LayOut or Style Builder fully support Mojave’s Dark mode display theme. While we have not observed any major incompatibilities, many dialogs, toolbars/palettes, and windows are not rendered in the Dark Mode colors.
Just a reminder that the newly announced (and not yet released) macOS Mojave is not officially supported by SketchUp. As with any beta version of an operating system, be aware that SketchUp may exhibit unwanted or unpredictable behavior. We recommend installing beta OS versions on separate partitions or removable drives so that you can revert to a released/stable OS as necessary.
